Republican Marc D’Amelio has delivered a lawsuit to the Norwalk law department, though it hasn’t been filed with the state Supreme Court in Stamford, The Hour reported this week. The lawsuit names the City of Norwalk and news website Nancy on Norwalk as the defendants in the case.
The lawsuit alleges that police leaked the information to the online news outlet “in a blatant attempt to influence the election.”
D’Amelio lost to Democrat Bob Duff last month, earning less than 40 percent of the vote for the 25th Senate District. Prior to the election, news of D’Amelio’s drunk driving arrest leaked to the news, and D’Amelio has been adamant that police improperly released a report of the incident.
D’Amelio was arrested in January 2014 on South Main Street for drinking and driving with his 9-year-old daughter in the front seat. He has since completed accelerated rehab and has maintained a clean record. The charges were also dismissed in Superior Court in Norwalk.
According to the report, the lawsuit alleges that the city violated state law regarding the expunging of criminal records and he was subjected to “false light invasion of privacy.” He is reportedly seeking more than $15,000 in alleged damages.
The lawsuit also reportedly described Nancy on Norwalk as “a webpage primarily comprised of Democrat and progressive propaganda, as well as local gossip related to citizens of the City of Norwalk and is in no way a legitimate source of news.”
